Switching to Citizens Savings Bank Is Easy!
Interested in switching your accounts to Citizens Savings Bank? Follow these simple steps to help make your transition quick and easy.
Step One – Open a Checking Account at Citizens Savings Bank
Stop in at any of our locations to open your new Citizens Savings Bank account.
Step Two – Stop Using Your Old Account
- Gather all information about your existing account and stop writing checks and using your debit card on your old account.
- Review your bank statements and note all direct deposits and automatic payments by using the Account Switch Checklist. (Be sure to leave sufficient funds in your old account until all of your checks have cleared and any automatic withdrawals have been transferred). Note: Keep in mind that not all automatic payments that you have previously established occur on a monthly basis. Check for payments made at irregular intervals such as bi-monthly, quarterly or annually.
Step Three – Move Your Direct Deposits & Automatic Payments
- Prepare to move your direct deposits and automatic payments by completing the Direct Deposit Authorization Change form and the Automatic Payment Authorization Change form. Note: You may be asked to fill out an additional form by the party making the direct deposit or automatic payment. Also, remember to switch over any companies that use your old debit card number.
- To transfer social security direct deposits, you can either call Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 or go to www.ssa.gov/deposit/howtosign.htm.
Step Four – Close Your Old Account
- Confirm all checks have cleared and all automatic payments have been made.
- Complete the Account Closure Authorization form and send it to your old financial institution. Note: Some financial institutions may require you to fill out additional forms. If your account is an interest bearing account, please consider this when choosing the closing date. Your old financial institution should provide you with a check for the outstanding balance in your old account.
- For security purposes, shred or destroy any unused checks, ATM/debit cards and deposit slips associated with your old account.
